Coaching Biography

Coach Bobby Newcombe has coach football, basketball, and track and field for nearly 12 years. Bobby coached receivers and defensive backs at mesa community college in 2010, coached wide receivers at Basha high school in 2016, and has coach multiple youth sports teams over the years.

Bobby is no stranger to the sports arena. Bobby played many different sports throughout his own youth focusing on the three (football, basketball, and track & field) during his time at Highland high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He received a full ride football scholarship to the University Nebraska to play quarterback and wide receiver and ran indoor track. Bobby was a part of the 1997 national championship team and to this day holds the Fiesta Bowl punt return record. Bobby was drafted do the Arizona Cardinals in 2001 and spent a year in NFL. He then played in the Canadian football league before deciding to retire.

Bobby earned a Bachelors of Science in Management in three years and decided to continue his education. He earned another bachelor's degree in Information Technology, a Masters of Business Administration, a Masters of Education Secondary Education and a Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership. He also holds an Advance Software Developer certificate and career and technical education (CTE) certificate. Bobby continues to teach college courses encourages others to advance your education and take advantage of opportunities to make meaningful contributions to society.

As for Coach Newcombe's family life, he has been married for 19 years to his wife Rachel and his has four boys (Isaiah 17, Jeremiah 15, Micah 11, Jonah 8). With four boys Bobby realized he was meant to re-enter the sports arena and become a mentor for not only his own children but others as well. His passion excitement for coaching is amazing to witness.

Brian Whitacre
Offensive Coord./QBs

Whitacre and his wife, Stephaneinie, have a 7 year old daughter named Ali, a 4 year old son named Beck, and a four month old new born name Finn. Brian Whitacre attended Southwest Minnesota State University where he played football and earned a B.A in Secondary and Elementary Education. Coach Whitacre is currently a physical education teacher at Casteel high school. Coach Whitacre has been at Casteel for five seasons.

Mike Till
Offensive Line

Coach Till and his wife, Denene, have a son named Shane and a daughter name Shelby. Shane is a recent graduate at Arizona State University. Shelby graduated from ASU and is a marketing director. Coach Till attended Jamestown Community Colleges in Jamestown, NY. Coach Till's previous coaching experience was at Westwood high school, Queen Creek high school and has been at Casteel for four seasons.

Nikklas Anderson
Defensive Line

Coach Anderson is starting his first year at Casteel High School. Prior to joining the Colts, Coach Anderson spent the last 11 years coaching high school and youth football in Michigan and Arizona: two years with Chandler High School (Chandler Wolves – Chandler, AZ), three years with Basha High School (Basha Bears – Chandler, AZ), four years with Gilbert Dawgs (Gilbert AYF – Gilbert, AZ) and four years with Northeast Raiders (Rocket Football League – Grand Rapids, MI). Nikklas grew up in Detroit, MI where he competed in football for Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. Senior HS. He then continued his education at Grand Valley State University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Management Information Systems. Nikklas and his wife, Kyra, have two sons: Alijah and Ayrian.

Dubois Gilliam

Coach Gilliam is entering his first season of coaching at Casteel and ninth season of coaching football in the valley. Previous to Casteel, Coach Gilliam Coach at Chaparral high school and Mountain Pointe high school where he served his varsity secondary coach and special-teams coordinator. Coach Gilliam was raised in McLean, Virginia until high school when his family moved to Salem, Alabama. While attending Salem high school coach Gilliam played football under Alabama high school and college football Hall of Fame or Woodrow Lowe. After high school, Coach Gilliam went on to play safety at Auburn University under Coach Terry Bowden and legendary defensive coordinator Bill Oliver. Coach Gilliam graduate from Auburn in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science in Economics. Coach Gilliam currently works as an engagement manager for a digital transformation consulting firm. Coach Gilliam‘s family includes his wife Alisha and children Shaylin, Haley, Karissa, Briannan and Cameron.

Paul Maglorie
Defensive Backs

Coach Magloire was a football and track letter winner for Lynbrook high school in Long Island, New York he led Lynbrook to the 2010 Long Island class III championship, accounting for 21 touchdowns and 10 two point conversions. He earned Allstate Honoree and the Old Spice Player of the Year. He played two seasons in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He graduated from the university of Arizona with a bachelors degree where he also played football and was a Chuk Bednarik Nominee two years in a row. He is a father to Brayden 4, Jayden 1.5, and Londyn 7 months and husband to Aubrey Lynn Magloire.

Randy Ross
Running Backs

Coach Ross is in his third season as varsity running backs coach and head junior varsity coach. Coach Ross is currently a health and sports medicine teacher at Casteel. He previously coached at Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Omaha Central, Perry high school, and Campo Verde high school. Coach Ross earn a B.A.E from Wayne State College and and M.S.from Indiana State University. He has four children: Scott 31, Physicians Assistant in the Air Force, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Matthew 29, District Sales Manager for Anheuser-Busch in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tommy 27, running backs coach at Morehead State University, and Sarah 27, Dental Hygienist in Lincoln, Nebraska. Two grandkids: Jack 3 years, Ryan 6 months.
